Last evening’s Great Vespers. Considering that, other than a few things, like the kyrie, I had never heard or seen the music, or seen the words, it went very well. I sight-read cold, with no bloopers. And thank God for ison!
The Great Doxology and Divine Liturgy today will be a lot less stressful, since much of the music is familiar. There is the matter of the other choir director, who has been absent since my first practice, was not at Vespers last night, so has no idea I’m there (if he shows today, and I’m sure he will).
